“We have been working together for about 11 months in the lead-up to my wedding day in September.

I was someone who did a bodybuilding competition in 2019 and had a poor experience with the coaches I had chosen who gave me a cookie-cutter plan and didn't understand how to work with someone with an endocrine issue (Grave's disease with a full thyroid removal and lifetime medication and monitoring) and based their energy on their clients who they thought would place well, which wasn't me.

Making the decision to work with someone again in the build-up to my wedding took a lot of research to make sure I didn't end up in this position again, and this is when I found Tom, Jas and The Performance Formula.

This has truly been the best experience. Tom understood straight away some of the limitations I could face and was so flexible to work around everything going on in my life throughout this time from high thyroxine levels, new house, my job as a mental health nurse in QAS working 24 hour shift patterns and planning a wedding abroad.

We came up with a solid plan to build an hourglass shape focusing predominantly on legs and glutes and then tightening up on my upper body to work around the dress I had fallen in love with and the shape I wanted to work towards.

I loved my programming and Tom gave me the option of working from my usual gym to the limited equipment in my work gym on my lunch breaks. It never felt stale or boring and the program Tom initially used helped track my progressive overload or make me aware on weeks where energy levels were low and the gremlins popped up. he has since transitioned to an app which has made it every better to navigate.

We worked hard with my calorie intake, which allowed flexibility during high-stress times and tightened up when we needed it, and I hit my goal weight and body fat % a couple of weeks before I flew out for the wedding. I even had chocolate/ ice cream every night and never felt like I was restricted, which has allowed me to continue to work with ease now I don't have such a specific goal.

I felt exactly how I wished on my wedding day and Tom made sure I enjoyed my honeymoon and didn't feel any guilt with easing up on restriction and we have hit the ground running on my return with weekly increase on my weights, working on form and tracking at maintenance but still managing to drop on my pinchy tests.

I cant wait to see what these next few months will bring and I cannot recommend Tom or his team high enough for an incredibly supportive, knowledgeable and experienced group of people. “

Do I need to be an athlete to work with you?

No, we coach a mix of everyday lifters, amateur fighters, weekend warriors, and serious competitors. If you train hard and want better results from your nutrition and training, we’ve got you covered.

Is this just a meal plan or a training program?

Neither. It’s full coaching. You’ll get personalized nutrition and training based on your goals, lifestyle, schedule, and current fitness. Plus, we adjust program or nutrition plan based on how you're progressing.

What if I want to cut weight or prep for a comp?

Perfect, that’s one of our specialties. Whether you're prepping for a fight, photoshoot, or just want to drop body fat safely and effectively, we’ll guide you through it without wrecking your performance.

Do I need a gym membership?

Not necessarily. We can program training around gym access, home equipment, or sport-specific sessions (like boxing, Muay Thai, or CrossFit). Your plan is built around what you have access to.

I train early mornings / do shift work, can this still work for me?

Absolutely. Many of our clients work unpredictable hours. We'll build your plan to suit your training times, sleep, and meal schedule so you can perform and recover better, even on tight timelines.

I eat plant-based / have dietary restrictions, will this still work?

Yes. We’ve coached clients across plant-based, high-protein, gluten-free, and everything in between. We’ll build your nutrition to work with your preferences while still fuelling your training properly.

How often do I check in or speak with a coach?

You’ll check in weekly. We also offer video feedback, make updates based on your progress, and stay in touch through our direct messaging system.

Is this all online? Or do you offer in-person coaching?

Most of our clients work with us online, but if you're based in Brisbane, we do offer in-person options and event prep support. Just let us know and we can tailor the approach.

What results can I expect?

That depends on your starting point and your effort, but most clients notice better energy, strength, body composition, and consistency within the first 4–6 weeks. We coach for long-term results, not just quick fixes.

What if I’ve tried coaching before and it didn’t work?

We get it, a lot of people come to us after cookie-cutter programs or “one-size-fits-all” coaching. The difference with TPF is that we actually adjust based on your feedback and results, so you’re never stuck doing something that doesn’t work.
